For many, the Pump Rooms and the Roman Baths are the main reason for their visit and it is easy to see why. As some of the best preserved and certainly the biggest Roman Bath in the country it is a fabulous sight and the steaming water on a cold day still looks inviting after two millennia. The natural spring that feeds the bath is the reason that Bath is such a beautiful city today, as the Georgians took to the idea of ‘taking the waters’ big time and the city grew to feed that early tourist trade.

The shop in the Pump Rooms is one of the best you’ll find in a museum, with some beautiful copies of Roman glassware as well as the more usual books, pencils and postcards. You don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy the Pump Rooms and Baths, it is a spectacular building that really takes you back in time.
